    ================================
    In 1865, as commanding general, Ulysses S. Grant led the Union Armies to victory over the Confederacy in the American Civil War. As an American hero, Grant was later elected the 18th President of the United States (1869–1877), working to implement Congressional Reconstruction and to remove the vestiges of slavery.
    This book is a good overview of Grant and his life - from his birth and upbringing, to his Civil War service, and into his time as President of the United States.
    Not a book for hardcore Civil War enthusiasts, but this would be an excellent book for home schooling or a teenager with an interest in the Civil War.
    There is a good mix of photographs and artist sketches that would keep the attention of a young student. It is indexed, so it would be easy for a home teacher to use as well.
    I am offering a similar book on Robert E. Lee as well - so check my other listings / auctions if interested !
