Item Description
Here is a good 6 volume set of third edition books about the New York Union soldiers in the US Civil War for your buying consideration.  Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself!

The books were put out a little over 50 years after the commencement of hostilities between the Confederate and Union forces.  The 6 volume set of books (one book is an index) were printed in 1912 and are entitled, "New York in the War of the Rebellion".  The person that compiled the volumes was Frederick Phisterer.  T
he books were put out by the J B Lyon Company of Albany, NY.
The books have a blue cloth pebbled hardcovers.  The covers still have very good color to them. The spine is done in gold gilt, has the title of the book, the compiler of the books, the volume number, edition, and the state being the issuing company.  The front and back covers are still securely attached to the rest of the book at the spine.  The books themselves are in very good shape.  There are no dust covers with these books, not sure if they originally came with any.
Some minor rub to covers, mostly to the corners.
There is a color illustration in the front of each book.  All sorts of tables thru the books.   Some wear to the covers at the edges.  Volume 1 shows some marking on the top and side of the pages that does not carry into the faces of the pages.
The topics of the books include the list of all NY regiments for every service raised for the Civil War.  Each area includes brief data on each unit, actions they were involved in, tables of losses, a Roll of Honor for the NY men, registers and sketches of the units which includes all militia and National Guard regiments.  Also, volunteer organizations, including the Brigades Artillery and 8th Cavalry.
Each of the six books is 11-1/8" tall, by 8" across, by 1-3/8" to 2-5/8" wide.
