The 24th Missouri Volunteer Infantry. "Lyon Legion." By J. Randall Houp. Blue cloth hardcover, pub. 1997, 1040 pages. A history of the regiment from 1861 through 1865. The 24th was at Pea Ridge, Corinth, Iuka, the Camden Expedition in Arkansas, Red River campaign, Chattanooga, Franklin and Nashville as well as many smaller encounters and skirmishes with a number of companies on detached service. Extensive genealogical section on biographies of the men of each company with many photographs. The men were from all over Missouri but most were from Greene (Springfield), Phelps (Rolla), Laclede (Lebanon), and Webster (Marshfield). Very scarce unit history, cannot be found on the internet for sale. Very heavy, shipping weight over 6 pounds.
