Here is a nice 10 volume set of first edition books about the US Civil War for your buying consideration.  Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself!
Very nice 1st Edition set of books here.   The books were put out on the 50th anniversary of the commencement of hostilities between the Confederate and Union forces.  The 10 volume set of books were printed in 1911 and are entitled, "The Photographic History of the Civil War".  The Editor in Chief was Francis Trevelyan Miller.  Each of the volumes was written by various individuals.  The books were put out by the Review of Reviews Company.  The books were published by the Patriot Publishing Co of Springfield, MA.  There is a forward by President Howard Taft in the first volume.
The books have a blue cloth hardcovers.  The front cover of each book has an impressed picture of the US and Confederate flags.  The covers still have very good color to them.  The spine is done in gold gilt, has the title of the book, the author of that book. the volume number, title of that book, a sword, and the issuing company.  The front and back covers are still securely attached to the rest of the book at the spine.  The books themselves are in very good shape.  There are no dust covers with these books, not sure if they originally came with any.
Some minor rub to covers, mostly to the corners.  Gold gilt on the top edge of the pages, not as bright on the side and bottom of the pages.
The books are not signed and have no markings in them at all.  Very clean set overall.
The books are still well bound.  The hardboard covers are securely attached.  No mold, tobacco, or mildewy smell. Volume 10 with the index is second issue, issued in the same year as the first, with "2nd Ed" appearing at the foot of the index pages.  No previous owner name stickers in any of the books.
If you look at the General's Death page, next to last photograph, you will see torn at bottom about 2" up in to page.  We didn't do it!
The books have great pictures of people, ships, equipment and battlefields associated with the American Civil War of 1861-1865. The books include contributions from eminent individuals, scholars, politicians, and Officers of both the Union and Confederate armies and navies.
Each of the ten books is 11-1/8" tall, by 8.5" across, by 1-5/8" wide.
